The legal basis for autonomous regions in the Indian Constitution is examined in this study, with particular attention to Articles 1, 2, 3, 370, the Sixth and Fifth Schedules, and the historical context behind them. It furthermore talks about article 370 which gave special status to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, and what happened to this special authority when the article was revoked. Of particular importance is the Sixth Schedule, which describes the financial and administrative aspects of autonomous regions. This research adds to the growing body of knowledge about how constitutional provisions are tailored to meet the needs of different regions within the diverse nation of India.
